Davis Tools ActionRunner is about to go live!
Many of you have been asking "When????" Well we are soooo close. The user guide will be perfected and we should be live in the next 24 hours (or 36 or so, it's really up to the web guys to finalize it all.)
The user guide is really simple but we want it to be very thorough so that technical support is almost never necessary. The QuickStart guide is like 5 lines long, but the detailed deal and instructions on how to fully customize it are what we want to perfect so that even if your not a Photoshop person etc. you can use it to it's fullest ability! (This thing is sooo unbelieveably easy to use but we want it to be completely dummy proof before we release it.)
Be sure to check out www.davistools.com in the next day or so.
Also, please leave a comment. I'd love to track how far the grapevine travels in the early stages of ActionRunner.

Jim - thank you thank you THANK YOU! For the last couple years I have been getting so burned out on spending hours behind the computer editing - I dont know how many times ive said and thought "I WISH THERE WAS ANOTHER WAY" - Ive only had your workflow for a week and Ive already learned how to TOTALLY CUSTOMIZE it to my style ... the pictures are turning out amazing - i love the actions you sent me - i love being able to add my own anytime - and I LOVE HAVING MY TIME BACK. "A man who dares to waste one hour of life has not discovered the value of life." - not that making a living or giving people the best pictures possible is a waste of time - but i know for myself and way too many photographers this job is CONSUMING - life is too short, and i KNOW God did not make me to sit behind a computer, thanks for your sacrifice of YOUR time Davis Photography, to make such an awesome product!
this is really cool (sounds cool). We have a great friend in Nashville who has been doing really amazing photography for years... we even some pics he took of mother theresa in our house that are AMAZING. But he has had a really tough time switching to digital and doing the effects. (the effects being the reason) b/c he is always flying around the world and hasn't taken the time to learn. You think this would be the right kind of product for him?

Ben, your a super studd!
I knew you would LOVE ActionRunner.
For real, what photog that wants to get away from the computer wouldn't.
I love that you've already been able to customize it as your own.
That's the cool thing about it, anyone can use it cause they can either use my actions or their own, but they can drag, drop, click and walk away. Come back and it's done!!!
Elizabeth,
If he has Photoshop 7.0 or higher this program will make digital editing a breeze. All he has to do is drag the images into the action folder he desires. (as many images as he wants to, I did 1189 the other day) click on ActionRunner and walk away. ActionRunner will automatically open each image, automatically apply the action, save it, close it and rename it if there are duplicates and it's done.
I can walk away for hours at a time while it's doing it's own thing. It's completely alleviated my need for an extra employee!
Tell me more info!! I want my LIFE back!!!!!!!!

This requires the user to have photoshop? I was hoping for a standalone program 'cause I don't already have photoshop, and purchasing it and actionrunner will be too much.
Debbie,
In the next few days, or even today you'll be able to read more about the details of ActionRunner at www.davistools.com but here is the short version.
Using Photoshop 7.0 or better you simply select your favorite images (i select from thumbnails using ACDSee Pro because the thumbnails are high res and really big and fast) drag them into the folders that are named according to the 25 actions that come with the program (you can add your own actions at anytime and all of them are fully customizeable) then you click on ActionRunner, walk away, go do whatever you desire and when you come back the images are edited for you. It really is that simple!
Then if you want to add a little more pop, brighten, etc. you can rerun some of the micro actions that come with the program. Once all your images look exactly like you want them to you simply rename them and then I ftp them to Pictage where they take care of the rest for me.
Thomas,
About 6 years ago when we had just started to really make our business a go a web developer told me "You need to get Photoshop. Trust me, this tool is essential to help you grow your business." He was soooooooo right. Had I not taken the plunge into purchasing this program I would not be where I am today with my business. I highly encourage you (whether you buy ActionRunner or not) to buy Photoshop. If you are trying to make money in the realm of photography you need to buy photoshop. The beauty of ActionRunner is that you don't need to know anything about photoshop to run it, you just need it to actually make the changes to the images that you desire.
Jim,
I love the ActionRunner for Macintosh. I have been an avid mac user for years, and ActionRunner works perfectly for me.
I shoot in RAW, and do much of my editing in a RAW Developer progam (Adobe Lightroom), and ActionRunner has become the perfect post-development tool in my workflow. Now, I can develop my images in RAW, and then, after they're exported to JPEG, use ActionRunner and your custom-designed effects/actions to give my photos more beauty, impact, originality, and all-around quality.
ActionRunner has added more power, confidence, and value to the customer to my RAW-JPEG workflow.
Thanks for following your idea and creating a tool that has had an immediate impact on my life.
Sincerely,
Graham Rouse

The actions look great! I want to get them!
Arden, (and anyone else that wants freedom in their life!)
Things are done on my end, I'm just waiting for the web developers to finalize their side of things. I hope that at the very latest it will be this friday that you can purchase actionRunner online at www.davistools.com
Inspiredy by Mike Lotz of Lotz Photography I took 170 images put them into 10 different action folders, clicked actionRunner and finished up some e-mails, watched the news with Lara, ate some cereal and went to bed. I woke up to 1700 different options. It was incredible. I would never have chosen some of the options that I ended up with and they look sooooooo great. In the end my clients get so many more amazing options and I have to do less work!
I LOVE ActionRunner 1.0
Any update on when actionrunner will be released? I took the plunge and bought photoshop like you suggested.
Thomas,
you'll never regret it! it's the best editing tool i can imagine. ActionRunner will be available (i hope) no later than this friday. it's all on the web guys for now.
